Year up is an excellent program and as you all know I'm hoping that a good career comes from it. As soon as I get to ma internship I will show that I have people skills and have everything that it takes to become a full time employee, possibly moving up in the company. I plan to stand out by making a positive impression on my managers and coworkers by working as hard as I possibly can without ever taking days off or being late. EVER!!! I'm not nervous at all because I know I can do well in any position I'm put in and I know I have what it takes. I'm very eager to get started in the right direction and I will do anything I have to do to get to the place in life that I need to succeed. Any type of office environment would be an awesome fit for me seeing as though the majority of my work experience has been either retail or field work. Honestly, I'm very curious to know what will be the expectations my managers have for me. Year up has provided an excellent way to get your foot in the door of the corporate world and I can speak for the whole program when I say that we all appreciate it. I plan to represent year up very proudly my first day and every day from now on. THANK YOU Year Up staff and students.

The Past is Practice
Many people look forward to the New Year for a new start on old habits. I'm going to treat this new year like a 25 year old man should by being the most responsible, business orientated, and focused man that I can possibly be. Everything in the past just helps you better be prepared for your future, the hard part is not letting the past repeat itself. A New Year's resolution is something that goes in one Year and out the other. So instead of having a New Year's resolution i'm just going to say I want to do better overall as a person, as a father, and as a hard working person. Happy New Year!!!!!!
Christmass/Kwanzaa
My family celebrates christmass and kwanzaa, so every year the whole family get twice the presents, twice the food, and twice the cleaning up. A large part of the reason why I love my family is because we all know how to have fun with eachother as a whole. I can honestly say that I have never had a family gathering on a holiday that I did not one hundred percent enjoy.
Kwanzaa is a week-long celebration held honoring universal african american heritige and culture, observed from December 26 to January 1 each year. It features activities such as lighting a candle holder with seven candles and combines giving gifts and eating. Over the holiday break, create and publish diary entries on your blog. Share some activities or traditions in which you partook, your state of mind over this time, or any other points of interest. Even if you do very little, engage your reader with reflections on people, events, or the holiday season as a whole. There should be a minimum of three entries on your blog by the time you return to class on January 3rd. I must admit every single year we have had a kwanzaa celebration at the house it gets more corny as the years go buy, but I keeps the youth informed about where we come from as a people and gives them a chance to show off their talents to us. "Imani"....means faith in swahelee.
Break is not Break
Being a parent is a full-time job and an excellent experience, but can also be frustrating. Vacation doesn't really mean vacation for parents seeing as to how I spent every singe day of my break hanging out with my son. I don't think spending time with your children is a bad thing, I just sometimes would love to have some me time. During the break I would have loved to wake up at 2 in the afternoon everyday but I have a certain responsibiliy who literally will wake me me up when he feels the time is right. In closing, a harsh reality is; I'm the adult but little Ted is the boss.

Employment Blogger
Some of the qualities I think is important to have when a person is entering an internship are maturity, professionalism, good time management, and most importantly dedication. Earning the internship through yearup is just the first step toward your career, if you want to keep your position after your internship, you must show your supervisor and colleagues every single one of the qualities listed, ten fold. I plan to show my internship readiness for the third module by continuing to strive for excellence and improving all my growth areas to make them my greatest strengths. I take this program very seriously because if I work hard I know where it can get me

Best Job I've Had
Prompt:
Compose a blog post 250 to 300 words long addressing either of the following questions. Be specific and respond to each bullet point in your post.
What is the best and the worst job (paid or volunteer) that you have ever had?
I've had many jobs in my short lifetime. I've done office work, manual labor, retail, painting, and many other types of jobs. My favorite job I've ever had would have to be for the Oakland Unified School District as a custodian and an after school coordinator. My custodian position was my favorite job because I had a whole lot of freedom. I had a list of set duties to perform everyday, and if completed them before the day was finished I could sit in my office and do whatever i wanted. I enjoyed working with the kids, organizing the basketball practices, recess periods, and helping out in the lunchroom. It was the kind of job that I could just wonder around and do whatever had to be done, or not. The pay wasn't that great, but I got to take long lunch breaks, and whatever else I wanted as long as I continued to work hard and show initiative.
The worst job I've ever had in my life was working at Aurthur Young's Debris Removal. I worked for this company in two separate times, with two separate job titles. When I worked in the office as the secretary it wasn't that bad at all, but when I worked in the field when I got really desperate for work I hated it. I had to do a bunch of duties that was almost slave work, and I would never do anything like that again. I had to work on the side of the freeway climbing up hills cleaning up leaves, risking my life for a little pocket change. I eventually quit and pursued other employment. I've had many subprime jobs, this was not one of them.

Walmart Shooting Suspect arrested in Walmart shooting; two others at large.
http://www.ktvu.com/news/news/1-shot-after-attempted-robbery-front-san-leandro-w/nFmqZ/
Wednesday morning at a Walmart in San Leandro, a man was shot after four men attempted to rob him for his purchases. They struggled with the man to get his bags, but the man didn’t want to give up his black Friday purchases. As a result to this struggle, one of the robbers shot the man once and then fled the scene. The victims family caught one of the robbers by holding him down until the police came. The article says that the Walmart shoppers went back to business as usual a little more than a hour from the shooting. People are getting out of hand with their greed and overall wrong upbringing. I love a goo deal, but you will not see me in a tent posting outside a store, you will not see me pepper spraying children to get to a video game, and you will not see me fighting to save a few dollars. All the violence attached to Black Friday is out of control and should be stopped. As long as this event is into place, it’s going to be out of hand. There is nothing the police can do about it, police will only tame it. Black Friday is something I can do without. So, the next time you want a deal on some electronics, think about is it worth it to get shot or trampled for a couple dollars.
